Last Updated: January 2, 2026. These Terms govern your institution's use of the MyWritingAssessment platform.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between your institution and My Writing Assessment. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If accepting on behalf of an institution, you represent authority to bind that institution.
MyWritingAssessment provides AI-powered writing assessment for higher education including: online writing assessment administration, AI-powered essay evaluation and placement recommendations, academic integrity monitoring, faculty review and placement finalization workflows, analytics and reporting, and user and assessment management.
Institutions must register for an account with accurate information, maintain credential security, and accept responsibility for all account activity. Institutions designate System Administrators who manage user accounts and assign roles (Administrator, Faculty, Proctor). Students access via proctored sessions using access codes.
Use the Service only for lawful educational assessment purposes. Do not: attempt unauthorized access, interfere with the Service, reverse engineer, transmit malware, share credentials, violate laws, or resell without authorization.
Our IP: The Service software, design, and content are owned by My Writing Assessment. We grant a limited, non-exclusive license for internal educational purposes during your subscription. Student Work: Student submissions remain student/institutional property. We claim no ownership and do not train AI on student essays. Institutional Content: You retain ownership of rubrics, prompts, and configurations. You grant us a license solely to provide the Service.
AI recommendations are advisory only and require faculty review. Your institution is responsible for final placement decisions. AI may require human judgment for edge cases. We work to improve accuracy but do not guarantee specific rates.
Integrity features (behavioral monitoring, AI-content detection) assist human decision-making. False positives and negatives may occur. Your institution is responsible for investigating concerns per your own policies.
Governed by our Privacy Policy. FERPA compliant. We will enter agreements as required for school official status under FERPA.
We strive for high availability but may suspend for maintenance or emergencies. Pricing per service agreement. Fees non-refundable except as specified. We may suspend/terminate for breach (with 30-day cure period), non-payment, or legal requirement. Upon termination: data export available within 30 days, deletion within 90 days.
Service provided as-is without warranties. We do not warrant uninterrupted operation or specific AI accuracy. Total liability limited to amounts paid in the preceding twelve months. You agree to indemnify us from claims arising from your use, your violations, your placement decisions, and your integrity proceedings.
Governed by Washington State law. Disputes in Whatcom County, Washington courts. We may modify Terms with notice. Continued use constitutes acceptance. Contact: support@mywritingassessment.com.
